Comcast Brings Lunar New Year Festivities to Your Screen with a Curated Collection of Asian and Asian American Entertainment

The Lunar New Year collection is available across Xfinity platforms and includes movies, shows and entertainment from networks and streaming services like Peacock, Jubao, GMA Pinoy, Filipino on Demand, KOCOWA and Hi-YAH!

Lunar New Year is one of the most important festivals for millions around the world who return home to spend time with family and friends, eat traditional foods, and share gifts. This year, we celebrate the Year of the Snake, which is a time for renewal, transformation, and spiritual growth.

For the fifth year in a row, Comcast is excited to work with Gold House, a non-profit collective of Asian and Pacific Islander cultural leaders, to bring Lunar New Year content recommendations from notable voices in the community. This collaboration brings a specially curated collection of Asian and Asian American movies, shows and entertainment to Xfinity customers, offering thousands of hours of content across its entertainment platforms, including X1, Flex, Xumo Stream Box and the Xfinity Stream app.

Highlights of this year’s Lunar New Year experience includes:

  • Free movies & TV shows on demand from KOCOWA (e.g., “Extraordinary You,” “The Brave Yong Su Jeong,” and “The Running Man”) and Hi-YAH! (e.g., “Hunt the Wicked,” “Eye for an Eye 2: Blind Vengeance,” and “The Comeback”), from January 27 – February 2, as part of the company’s “Free This Week” program.
  • Featured Asian and Asian American entertainment from networks and streaming services like Peacock, Jubao, GMA Pinoy, Filipino on Demand, Spotify, and more.
  • Lunar New Year-themed features on X1 including the ability to customize the look and feel of X1 with one of the Lunar New Year zodiac animals, and a unique screensaver of swimming Koi Fish, which symbolize good luck, abundance, and perseverance.

To access, Xfinity customers can say “Asian American” or “Lunar New Year” into their voice remote or find it within each platform’s year round “Asian American Film & TV” destination. The Asian American Film & TV destination brings together hundreds of culturally relevant movies, TV and music from all major networks and streaming partners celebrating significant cultural observances.
